Welcome back to fairy town, Where magic sometimes fails, And the heart tries to prevail— Fueled by one last loving gale, That ever-powerful wind beneath your spirit.
The sentinels who guard the gates Embrace you and your holy fate. They wait and they watch. They watch and they wait. Waiting to take you away.
And I know in my gut Love may not be enough To keep you tethered here— One day, you'll slip beyond The edges of my reach.
Here, where we sit vigil Even though you’re still alive. Here, where we paint sigils Underneath the starlit sky. And we pray to you on high That love will be enough. This time. This time.
They wait and they watch. They watch and they wait. Guardians of the mortal plane, Longing to whisk you far from pain, Keeping out the rot and wraiths—like me.
The purples spill over, Cascading like falls, The birds sing along— A harmonious song. Everything as it should be... Or is it?
If life is so peaceful, Then why does it need protecting? Even fairies have a sinister streak.
Here in this meadow, I think of you, my friend— Caught in a bind, Made golden with time.
Have you ever seen the trees Turn red in the spring? Our leafy limbs glowing With the blood on our hands And I think of you, my friend, While the sentinel waits—

Watching and waiting. Waiting and watching.
Here, where little creatures Take shelter at the gate, Where the sentinels watch and wait, Always towering over. It isn’t yet their time— But how I wish that it were mine, So I could go with you, my friend.
But alas, I never did Deserve you in the end, And I can’t forge my own fate While the sentinels lie in wait.
They watch and they wait. They wait and they watch. Please, forget me not— One day, we’ll meet again In fairy town...
All my love in fairy town, Where life must still go on— Even though I don’t belong In this meadow filled with song, And happy dogs who chase the children laughing.
One day, we’ll meet again, If the sentinels will let me in. They wait and they watch, They watch and they wait, Until my final day, If I am worthy.
